THEMIS-EVO EI5.02 (ESMR5)

The themis ®evo EI5.02 index variant has been specially developed for the Dutch market and meets the requirements of ESMR5 (Enexis Smart Meter Requirements). This is an integrated electronic index with a single-key LCD matrix display that acts as a user interface. The index has a maximum battery life of 20 years, depending on meter usage, however the battery is replaceable in the field.
The gas meter equipped with themis ®evo is connected to the electricity meter via the M-Bus short-range wireless interface (868 MHz) in accordance with ESMR5. Just as a gas meter that measures volume at regular intervals reports the electricity meter, events and alarm messages are also sent as they occur. Safeguards to ensure integrity, confidentiality and authenticity during data exchange between communication partners are the latest state of the art. A secure update of the firmware in the air ensures that the technology is secure in the future and can be updated as needed to meet new requirements.
The display of the volume in the basic conditions is a special feature of the themis®evo index. Using an integrated electronic system for measuring temperature and fixed pressure, the measured volume is converted into volume under basic conditions (basic temperature Tb = 0 ° C, basic pressure pb = 1013.25 hPa), displayed on the screen, stored in the index and transmitted by communication partners.

Short range communication

  • Wireless M-Bus (868 MHz) according to Enexis Smart Meter (ESMR5) requirements based on EN 13757
  • Integrated antenna

Communication profile

Wireless M-Bus, T2 mode according to EN 13757-4

  • Transfer of data per hour (eg current hourly volume value in basic conditions with time stamp and last 3 hourly values) to the electricity meter
  • Two-way communication once a day (eg for time synchronization)
  • Push message (eg if alarms appear)

Wireless M-Bus, operating mode C1 according to EN 13757-4

  • Transmit the current volume and timestamp every 5 minutes

Security and data protection

  • Secure state-of-the-art encryption and authentication:
  • Symmetric encryption using AES-128 (GCM) and authentication (GMAC) according to
  • EN 13757-3 (safety mode 9)
  • The keys can be replaced
  • The future for secure firmware updates
  • Notify further device if an unauthorized access attempt is detected
  • Submitting a status report daily
